What I’ve Been Up To – Personal Project Update – Fusion Final Project Pt. 2

This post serves as an update for my Fusion 10 personal project. If you didn’t read my project pitch, here’s my product: SleepPlugs©. SleepPlugs© are low-cost, silicone-tipped, ergonomic earplugs with a built-in alarm system customized by a mobile app connected through Bluetooth. It helps to solve several problems people face when they sleep: getting disturbed by too much sound in your environment and missing your alarm when you wake up.

Now that you know my product, let’s see what I’m up to. Right now I’m working on coding the app on the phone which controls the alarm, as well as the circuitry for the alarm system. I’m currently using MIT App Inventor for the development for the app, but I’m also looking into pre-built Arduino apps that allow for Bluetooth communication (so I can save myself some work).

For the electronics part, I’m running into a little bit of trouble with the ESP32 and how it works but it’s not that complex as I just need to connect 2 earplug-alarm combos to the breadboard. After they’re done, I’m also planning to make a mold out of silicone for the earplugs itself.

That’s pretty much it for my project. See you next time.

Aiden
