UVIC Trip Summary

At the end of the year, the fusion class went to the University of Victoria for 1 week. we all stayed in dorms that were really close to campus, and we followed a plan that had many activities that we did throughout the week.

What I enjoyed the most during the trip was on wednesday night where my fusion class met up with different engineering students from Uvic and we all got to show off the personal projects we had been working on to them. The experience allowed me to think into the future about the necessary tweaks required in order to further improve my personal project.

The biggest takeaway of the trip was when my group went to the lab of the “Victoria Hand Project”. The tour was only around twenty minutes, but we met with a group of people that helped me look further into biomedical engineering, which is what I wish to pursue in the future. Along with this, the Victoria Hand Project was very closely connected to my fusion project, as the Victoria Hand Project works with creating comfortable arms for amputees, and my personal project is a bionic hand that will move its fingers when you move the fingers of your actual hand.

Overall, the fusion trip was a very unique experience that helped give me insight into the future of engineering in general and also helped me discover more about the profession that I wish to take on in the future.
