<\/figure>\n\n\n\nSince I have only worked with TinkerCAD for my CAD experience and have never worked with OnShape, I decided to use a tutorial and choose a simpler shape for my first project. I created a mug to learn the basics of OnShape. I followed a YouTube tutorial for this project. The steps are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n I started with the mug body, creating a circle and extruding it upwards. Then, I used the shell tool to make the inside of the mug. For the lip of the mug, I used the fillet tool to give it a smoother edge, rather than a sharp edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next, I had to make the mug handle. I created a sketch using the spline tool to create a shape for the handle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I then created 2 ellipses for the handle’s anchor points and used the sweep tool to create thickness for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While I completed the mug, there was an issue: I could not mate the handle of the mug to the mug, which is a curved surface. The assignment required me to have a mate in the project, and after spending quite a bit of time on it, it seemed impossible, therefore I resorted to creating a coaster which was mated to the mug base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mechanical Drawing<\/p>\n\n\n\n CAD Skills used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some challenges I faced as this was my first time using OnShape were the mechanical drawings. I had some difficulty getting some measurements and showing the dimensions on the drawing, for example: the curve of the Handle side view. This proved to be a challenge because of the nature of the curve, having no points on the sketch where the software could put a “point” to start the measurement.
