Year End Trip Debrief

Last Monday, the fusion group set out to UVic for a year end trip. There we had a program that basically gave us a quick look into the more complex engineering world. Activities included fluid dynamics, optimization algorithms, making small boats, and visiting a water waste management site. We also stayed in the dorms at UVic and had a chance to eat local food and go to downtown for an afternoon.

For me, the highlight of the trip was being able to keep my electronics. Since I am a boarding student, my technology usually disppears by 10pm at night. Being able to keep my electronics was really nice so was having my own room.

The biggest takeaway was perhaps the fact that during one of the conversations with a university student, they expressed interest in working with me on developing this app. I gave them my business card and we connected shortly after the trip to set up a meeting this Friday to discuss future opportunities and development of my project. Being able to work with a university student would be a new experience for me so I’m looking forward to it.
