Hello all! For context, our fusion class went on a week-long trip to the University of Victoria to both explore a multitude of different varieties of engineering and get advice on our personal projects. We attended many different workshops and presentations which include but are no limited to the Fluid Dynamics Lab at UVic and a tour at the Johnson Street Bridge.
For me, there were multiple highlights of the trip, like gartic phone, my boat actually working, and the kombucha. However, getting personally flipped off in downtown Victoria takes the cake. We were walking by a bus stop after shopping and while heading to Interactivity Board Game Cafe. There were 3 females playing really loud music. Naturally, I took a quick glance at their speaker. As we were walking past, one of them came from behind us and yelled: “What the beep are you looking at, beep“. We continued walking and started laughing. I looked back at the bus stop, and she then started flipping me off. To spread some positivity into her life, I blew her a kiss.
One takeaway I had was that there are multiple varieties of engineering that I didn’t know existed. For example, I believed aerospace engineering was simply mechanical engineering, not a branch of its own.
